A new making project every week — printing, collage, painting, clay modelling, threading. We set it up so there's no wrong way to do it: the youngest press, dab and stick, while older children work to a plan and take home something they meant to make. Everyone leaves with something.

Our sensory nooks are refilled with something different every week — an oat kitchen one week, a building site or a dinosaur dig the next — alongside fresh playdough and the tools to squash, roll and press it. Fillers are chosen by age, with taste-safe options in the nooks our youngest explorers can reach.

The quiet corner: threading, posting, pegging, sorting and tweezer work, laid out so children can pick their own level of challenge. It's unglamorous, deeply absorbing work, and it's exactly the hand strength and precision that a pencil grip is built on.

A different little world each week — a café, a vet clinic, a corner shop, a home kitchen. Role play is where language arrives fastest: children try on jobs, negotiate who gets to be who, and talk far more than they would anywhere else in the room.

Room to move, and a full dress-up rack to move in. Balancing, climbing, crawling, throwing and chasing, with equipment set up differently each week — plus capes, hats and costumes for the children whose big movement only really gets going once they're someone else.

An invitation to investigate, set out fresh each week and left deliberately open-ended — a light table, a tray of loose parts, a mirror and a basket of natural treasures, a counting or letter game. There's no instruction card and no right answer. We set the scene and follow where the children take it.
